Thumbnail: Francine Maes is a business woman from Flanders. Early fifties, stern, and with an eye for profit, she is looking to make a profit from BREXIT. She is the main physical manifestation of evil.
A Maes was involved in the attempt to drain the marshes in the late 1600's (went wrong because of the shadow) - see 'The Maes Cut'. She is not interested in history, but this gives her a (false) sense of ownership over the town. She has a chip on her shoulder about not being dutch.
