Thumb Nail: The Model Maker is an old (man?) who is native to the town. A silent figure he collects rubbish - but why? He is quietly making a vast model that communicates something (what???) critical about the town to the protagonists.
He, like the rest of the town's folk, has been taken by the shadow, but for some reason (what?????) is not totally cowed (his actions are subliminal, like art theory, so releases an inner message?).
